Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)

Nigeria's corporate registry. NGOs, associations, foundations and churches register with CAC as Incorporated Trustees. CAC registers, regulates and keeps records of companies, business names and incorporated trustees, and can investigate an organisation's affairs in the public interest.

Incorporated Trustees register fully online on the Company Registration Portal. The applicant checks and reserves the name, completes form CAC-IT01, uploads the constitution, trustees' details and IDs, minutes appointing the trustees and trustee declarations, and pays the filing fees online. After approval CAC issues an electronic Certificate of Incorporation and a Certified Extract of Registration Information. At least two qualified trustees are required, and a newspaper notice of intention to incorporate may be needed. CAC oversees annual returns, governance and record-keeping, and offers post-incorporation changes and certified copies.
