About NGO Directory Africa

Why we built it

Finding the right organisation in Africa is still too hard. Donors struggle to find credible local partners, NGOs struggle to find each other, and communities, researchers and journalists rarely have one reliable place to look. Information is scattered across registers, websites, PDFs and social media.

NGO Directory Africa brings it together: one detailed profile per organisation, showing what it does, where it works (with the flag of every country and the counties or regions it serves), its programmes and impact, its funders and partners, its registration and verification status, and how to reach it.

Where the information comes from

• The organisations themselves, who list or claim their profiles and keep them up to date.
• ngos.ke, the Kenyan NGO portal, which is part of the same family.
• Open data such as Wikidata and public registers, and the organisations’ own websites.

Every profile shows its source and when it was last checked. Organisations that claim their profile take over responsibility for its content.

How it is funded

Searching is free. The directory is sustained by organisation packages (from a one-off USD 50), the USD 1.99 contact access pass and donations from supporters. Income pays for research, verification and adding new countries.
